Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Choir on steps of Opera House

Tower Street Public School has a history of excellence in the performing arts. Our choir is the only primary school to have performed at all performances of the School Spectacular since its inauguration in 1984.

Our choir groups have performed to audiences at the Opera House and the Sydney Town Hall, as well as at community and school based events. Tower Street PS students have been selected vocalists for the Talent Advancement Program (TAP) and we appear on the Sing CD used by schools across Australia.

 Junior dance group

Dance at Tower Street PS is highly valued by the school community. Our girls and boys dance groups have consistently represented the school at a high standard. Dance groups have performed successfully at district, regional and state dance festivals and events.

Senior dance group

Students in Years 1-6 can participate in Playday, a drama program where student build a play around an idea or theme which interests them. Tower Street Playday students have represented the school at district and regional Drama festivals, as well as at the Director's Choice Festival.

Every year Tower Street takes part in the East Hills District public speaking competition as well as in multicultural public speaking. From Kindergarten to Year 6 our students practise writing and presenting speeches.

Some of these activities and events have included the Stage Right Drama Camp, Operation Art, council murals, Aboriginal art workshops, school art shows, the Tower Street Talent Quest, recorder groups, song composition as part of Stage Three's Personal Learning Projects, our performing arts evening and dance workshops.

Students can unleash their creative flair through dance and drama performances, competitions, exhibitions and enrichment programs.

Students with particular interests and talents can participate in local and statewide activities in visual arts, music, dance and drama.
