What is the P&C?

The Tower Street Public School Parents & Citizens Association is a not-for-profit Organisation which is established to promote the interests of the school by:

  • bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation
  • assisting in providing facilities and equipment for the school
  • promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.

Membership of the P&C is open to all parents and guardians of pupils attending the school, and to all citizens within the school community. The P&C is always keen to welcome new members, particularly members who have time or skills they wish to share, or have an interest in the services provided by the P&C, such as Fundraising and the Uniform Shop.

Why join the P&C?

Research has shown that children perform better at school if their parents are involved in their education. One way to be involved and show your children that you care about their education is to join the P&C.

At the P&C meetings the Principal gives a report of what is happening around the school, the subcommittees report on current projects and you can find out about upcoming events.

As a member of the P&C you can also suggest and vote on how money is spent in the school.

The Fundraising committee raises money for the school, but also provides important social activities for parents and children, such as the school disco, and BBQs.

The Uniform shop provides the school uniform at comparable prices to other uniform retailers, such as Lowes, but any profit is returned to the school.

Other ways to get involved!

Teachers often require parents to assist in the classroom, on excursions, walking to swimming or gymnastics, and to read with children. So if you are available during school hours ask your child's teacher what you can do to help.

The P&C often run special projects or events that require funding. So, if you own, or know of, a business that is willing to be approached for donations/sponsorship please let us know.

Also, if you are willing to assist for projects or events please email us your details including availability (eg. Need 2 weeks advance notice, or Mondays after 3pm) and any special skills you may have, eg DJ, clown, bricklayer, cook, painter, can cook a fabulous sausage/cupcake etc.
